C H O P K N S Ca Fe Mg B Mn Cu Zn Mo Cl Ni

Carbon (C), Hydrogen (H), and Oxygen (O)

 

 

Form used by plants:

    CO2, H2O, O2

These are derived from water and the atmosphere and are not considered mineral elements.

Important functions:

    • Necessary for photosynthesis

    • Components of organic compounds (NADPH for example, which is a critical coenzyme important in oxidation-reduction reactions)

    • Major components of carbohydrates
